Certainly a business cannot exist without competent managers. In a small company, the manager may also be the entrepreneur, but usually the model is that the entrepreneur is the one who owns the resources, bears the risk, and sets the trend. The manager is the person who manages the business in a manner determined by the entrepreneur. Entrepreneurs are usually visionaries, while managers are doers.
There are three types of managers: democratic, autocratic, and liberal. Of course, one can never find a pure type, it is always a combination, but one type always prevails.
- Democratic type– The ideal type, cooperative. They divide the work accurately, use the opinions of the work team, try to persuade logically, and are not concerned with orders. He tries to motivate workers and introduces viewpoints and variations of possible approaches
- Autocratic type– He concentrates all authority and disposition in his own hands. He is not interested in the opinions of others, does not command, and gives direct orders. Of course, this type is not popular, has a high turnover of subordinates, is aggressive in the workplace, or, on the contrary, is close to indifferent.
- Liberal Type– Has no or minimal influence on the work. He does not show authority, does not manage, does not evaluate, and is conciliatory. Workers like him, but he is undisciplined and has minimal impact on the work.
Classification by Managers
The above are psychological classifications. However, managers can be further divided into three operational groups:
- Top top managers– the most senior executives responsible for the organization\’s strategic plans and goals
- Middle management– executives in charge of various periods of time, organizing various departments and their management
- Lower management– operational management positions, such as field supervisors in production departments, responsible for supervision, accepting new employees, preparing reports, etc.
